Update: DEA Ban on Synthetic Marijuana Not Finalized
Posted on by Townsend MyersThere appears to be a widely held misconception that there exists currently a nationwide ban on synthetic marijuana products pursuant to an emergency DEA order announced in November 2010. The fact of the matter, however, is that the ban is not yet in effect, according to the DEA’s website.
As of January 13, 2011, the Emergency Order has not been finalized, meaning that while the DEA still intends to ban the five proposed chemicals, the ban has not yet taken effect.
Anyone interested should make sure to keep current with any and all Federal Register publications on the subject. This is where the final notice will be publicized when it is officially enacted.
The most recent release from the Federal Register on the subject of the DEA nationwide ban can be found HERE.
